Meet Emerson -

How can you not fall in love with Emerson? Emerson is an absolutely stunning Siamese kitten. His guardians describe him as "lovingest, purringest boy we have ever come across!" Now that's really something!

Emerson has a skin condition called Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. It causes his skin to be fragile and hyperextensible--which means it is super stretchy and elastic! Emerson HAS to be an indoor only kitty due to his condition. Emerson had to be declawed so he wouldn't accidentally hurt his sensitive skin.

Never have heard of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome before, now I know. Siamese cats are such a wonderful breed. They can be demanding but make great companions.

I had to refresh the page 2 times to view this page for some reason, however, the information here was work the wait.

How old is Emerson? Has he found a home? My cat also has this disorder and we are trying to find out how long we can expect her to live with it. The oldest cat I have found in the literature was 11 and had to have multiple surgeries do to recurring hernias. I have found a few cats online that have it, but their accounts are no longer active. I do not know if the cats were euthanized due to maintaining the disorder or not. It seems that is a common end for these kitties and not one I am going to come to lightly.

@ weeder: I came across this page while looking up something for a class, and I was really surprised to see my cat! We adopted Emerson last July, and it was the best decision my fiance and I could have made.

As far as lifespan, I am not sure if their lives are considerably shortened due to the disease, and from what I understand from his vet, he will live as long as other cats. Emerson will be two years old this May, and other than the initial procedures to diagnose him and the declawing, he has not had any major surgeries. We've only had to deal with the occasional cuts so far.

Lol this reminds me of that quote "You can't teach an old dog new tricks."
