Image Submissions

Only digital pictures may be submitted. Photographs must be no larger than 1megabyte (approximately 800x600) or smaller than 400x500 pixels (approximately 600K). The image must be saved in JPG (jpeg) of format.

To enter a contest theme, simply browse for a picture on your computer, select it, and complete the entry form. You may enter as many pictures as you like into a theme.

For ALL submissions...

Photographers retain ownership of all copyrights.

By submitting an image into a themed contest, you certify that you or the photographer holds the copyright to any photographs submitted. If you are not the photographer, you must have permission from the photographer to enter his or her image in the contest.

By submitting an image to TheLanaProject.com, you grant TheLanaProject.com permission to store, display, and use the images, the photographer's name, and information about the picture that you provide on the entry form indefinitely on TheLanaProject.com web site and in any advertising or promotional materials for TheLanaProject.com both printed and on-line.

Photographers must have permission from any recognizable person and from the owners of recognizable animals appearing in the photograph to submit the image and must be able to grant TheLanaProject.com the right to display the photograph on the site.

Any image that receives legal challenges for either copyright infringement or insufficient permissions will be removed. We reserve the exclusive right to disqualify entry at any time, for reasons it, in its sole discretion, believes are not in keeping with the "Spirit of the Contest." No content may be posted that is considered offensive, illegal or violates the rights of any User.

Unless prohibited by local law, there is no age limit restriction on photographers. You may submit as many entries as you like for each contest. You may also submit the same image to multiple contests; however, winning images may not be resubmitted. All federal, state, provincial, and local laws apply. International prize winners may be responsible for shipping charges, taxes, and import tariffs according to location and/or local laws.

Additionally, you agree that:
You will not impersonate any person or entity;
You will not post, distribute or reproduce in any way any copyrighted material, trademarks, or other proprietary information without obtaining the prior consent of the owner of such proprietary rights;
You will not remove any copyright, trademark or other proprietary rights notices contained on TheLanaProject.com;
You will not interfere with or disrupt the Services or the Site or the servers or networks Connected to the Services or the Site;
you will not post, email or otherwise transmit any material that contains software viruses or any other computer code, files or programs designed to interrupt, destroy or limit the functionality of any computer software or hardware or telecommunications equipment;
You will not forge headers or otherwise manipulate identifiers in order to disguise the origin of any information transmitted;
You will not "frame" or "mirror" any part of the Site, without our prior written authorization;

Themed Contests

You must register with TheLanaProject.com in order to enter Themed Contests. You do not have to register to vote. The photo must in some way reflect the theme of the contest in progress. All photos must incorporate pets to be considered for the contest.

TheLanaProject.com users choose the winners for the themed contests by a web-based vote for any of the Theme Entries. A user can vote for as many pictures as they want in the current theme contest. Users may vote for any given photo once in the duration of a Theme Contest. The votes are displayed on the site as they accumulate. Photos with the highest votes win.

Periodically, TheLanaProject.com editors will choose personal favorite monthly photos that may or may not be based on the popular vote in addition to the photos chosen by the users.

Picture Archive

Pictures on the site are stored in the site's Theme Archives. From time to time, archived images will appear in special galleries and elsewhere within the site.
